About the International Aviculturists Society


Who are we?

IAS is a Group of Aviculturists from around the world striving to Protect, Preserve,& Enhance the keeping & breeding of all Exotic birds through Educational Programs, Cooperative Breeding Programs, and the Funding of Avian Research and Avian Conservation Programs.

Contributions in Excess of $20,000 were distributed in 1993 as a result of Convention Proceeds and Member Donations.

1994 Convention Proceeds and Donations to Avian Research and Conservation were in Excess of $30,000. These 1994 funds were distributed to the Captive Breeding Specialist Group, NC State University - Dr. Keven Flammer (antimicrobial research), University of Georgia - Dr. Branson Ritchie (viral and vaccine research), and the World Parrot Trust - USA. Conservation funds distributed through WPT were designated for the Lear's Macaw Project in Brazil, "Parrots in Peril Ecuador 1994", and other crucial projects as determined by the IAS Board of Directors.

1995 Convention Proceeds and Donations to Avian Research and Conservation were in Excess of $32,000. These 1995 funds were distributed to the Captive Breeding Specialist Group, Fundaves in Guatemala, The Alex Foundation, NC State University - Dr. Keven Flammer (antimicrobial research), and the University of Georgia - Dr. Branson Ritchie (viral and vaccine research). Conservation funds were allocated for field studies on African Grey parrots in the rainforest of the Central African Republic. Additional Conservation funding was allocated and placed in escrow pending receipt of further information from ongoing field studies.

The International Aviculturists Society is a non-profit corporation. There are no salaried positions. Donors may deduct contributions to IAS. The Internal Revenue Service has recognized IAS as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.
